the road to texas

Just a handful of pics taken with my phone and D750. Two long days on the road, where I ate all the See's candy, broke up one trillion backseat brawls , and laugh cried in Dalhart TX because the poo smell. The absolute highlight (aside from actually getting to our destination and being with familia) is one I did not get a picture of.

We took a wrong turn and ended up in the middle of nowhere New Mexico. Pulled off the side of the road, rolled down the windows, and stared out at the universe.  And It was like nothing I have ever seen. Zero light pollution, zero cars, just billions of stars sky to earth. It was unreal and our hearts burst. Seriously mesmerizing.

And then we left and I ate all the beef jerky. The end.

gracie + jonathan

Good gravy, I love these two.

I basically stalked them and made them take pictures with me when they were in the beginning stages of dating. Now, I don't want to be THAT person but I totally KNEW what was going down, y'all! I went home from that session feeling nostalgic, longing to connect with my husband (of 17 years) more deeply. I found myself rummaging through old letters and remembering a lot of beauty and pain, but feeling grateful for it all.

Thank you for letting me be apart of your day. I'm so utterly thankful. Congrats, babes:)

the pearson family

THIS family. Their light and love came through my lens so strongly. It makes me happy when families come to a session so open-hearted.  Very grateful to the Magic Hour Foundation for connecting me with the Pearsons. If you are not familiar with the Magic Hour Foundation they offer free photography sessions and prints to those fighting cancer. If you are a Photographer I cannot recommend this foundation enough.  And they offer sessions everywhere so please check them out.  https://magichour.org/

Sarah is fighting breast cancer and underwent chemo during her pregnancy. I've poured over her blog and it's so utterly uplifting and healing. You can follow her here: https://honestlyvulnerable.weebly.com. Enjoy a glimpse, into the life, of this beautiful tribe.

Watching the sky in NYC

I was in NYC, for a work trip, so I didn't have a whole lot of time to shoot but I'm sharing anyway. Especially since I was there during the eclipse. Half of these images are from my Google Pixel because walking around, for miles, with my big girl camera is just not much fun anymore. I'm OLD. And really, in the end, it's about shooting what you love with what you have:)

I absolutely adore this city and her people. Looking forward to my next time around:)

Living in the redwoods | Autumn and Winter (part 1)

We are incredibly fortunate to have a family cabin, in the redwoods of California.  It's a place I am always aching for and feel so much loss when we have to leave.  We have a ritual when we get home, from our time there, where we keep all the clothing in suitcases so we can inhale the mixture of redwoods and mildew for as long as possible. I'll be blogging this in parts so I don't drown y'all in too many images:)
**If you are able, these image heavy blogs are always better on a laptop or computer:)**

The Meza tribe | Austin, TX

Good gravy, it's been four years, you guys!  I've watched you bring new life into the world and face rough situations with utter grace. You are all so creative, full of wisdom, and strength. I'm so proud to be your friend and photographer. Friendtographer:) Ahh ya, just made that up. Boom:)
Love you guys! xoxo

Italia

I work with the most generous, wonderful company, in the world (milkbarnkids.com) and had the privilege of traveling to Italy, for work, last year.

Travel makes my heart ache (the good kind) more than any other thing.
